Rock Phosphate Application
Rock Phosphate should be applied in spring or fall based on a soil test. Unlike conventional recommendations which often suggest very high application rates that can cause a lot of damage, we generally suggest 10-50lbs/1000 sq ft to simply begin coaxing the phosphorus levels in the right direction.
We are not trying to find the ideal ratios in one year. In fact, rock phosphate is very slow to be broken down and assimilated into molecules. This particular product is a granular form that can be applied with a drop spreader, or even better, mixed in with compost.
